Alton James Colvin, Sr. was born December 29, 1945, to Earl and Annie Mae (Alford) Colvin. He was baptized at an early age and was raised in the Church of God faith and remained a member of New Life Church of God until his death. Alton attended school in Burton ISD and graduated from Burton High School.
On March 25, 1967, Alton was united in marriage to Alguree (Powell) Colvin and to this union four children were born. They shared over fifty years together until they were separated by her passing.
After graduation Alton began his career as a Steelworker with Steadley Company/Leggit and Platt. He also served as President of the local chapter of the Steelworkers Union and took great pride in planning their annual union picnic. Alton and Alguree also owned several rental properties throughout the city of Brenham.
Alton, who was affectionately referred to by all who knew him as “Pop”, was famous for his comedic personality. He enjoyed spending time with his family, whether it was traveling or at the homestead; more specifically he enjoyed sporting games and family trivia night participating not as a team member, but as a spectator who would spoil the games by blurting out answers.
