Arvester Johnson Obituary

Arvester Farr Johnson was born on October 30, 1939, in Rosebud, Texas, to Daniel Webster Farr and Minnie Lou (Wolridge) Farr. From the very beginning, she was surrounded by love, faith, and strong family roots.

Sister Arvester began her spiritual journey at New Hope A.M.E. Church in Lexington, Texas, at a young age. Later in life, she united with St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Houston, Texas, under the leadership of the late Pastor James Ford. There she faithfully served on both the stewardess and trustee boards. After many years of dedicated service, she rededicated her life to Christ and was baptized under the leadership of Pastor Roderick Dawson. She remained a faithful member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church until relocating to Caldwell, Texas, where she later united with The Fellowship Church – Galilee T.C.A.C. under Pastor Calvin Arnold. On June 25, 2025, she was honored as one of the beloved Mothers of the Church.

Sister Arvester lived her life with kindness, strength, and grace. She graduated from Giddings High School in 1959 and pursued her passion for beauty at Franklin Beauty School in San Antonio, Texas, graduating in 1964. She later moved to Houston, Texas, where she worked for Texas Instruments and Hughes Tools for many years. A true entrepreneur, she opened her own business, "Just Hair By AJ", on Cullen Drive in Houston, Texas. She also devoted many years to caregiving, serving others with compassion. Sister Arvester enjoyed fellowship and community and was a proud member of the Strait Kountry Trailriding Club of Austin, Texas.

On December 6, 2025, Sister Arvester completed her earthly journey and entered into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Webster Farr and Minnie Lou Wolridge Farr; her grandson, Jordin Wells; four sisters, Agnes Farr, Bernice Jackson, Lois Farr, and Lucille Deere; and three brothers, Edward Frank Farr, Robert Farr, and James Farr.

Sister Arvester leaves to honor her memory her loving children: Rickey Moore Sr. (Veronica) of Lexington, Texas; Karen Lynn Moore Whaley (JL) of Dime Box, Texas; and Jerome Johnson (Debra) of Las Vegas, Nevada. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren—Alexus Whaley, Desiree Brown, Rickey Moore Jr., D’Angela Moore, Rickey Lee Moore, and Jasmine Brown—and twelve great-grandchildren. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Brenda Green (Pastor Johnnie) of Lexington, Texas; Beverly Joyce Baker of Round Rock, Texas; and Helen Stevenson of Caldwell, Texas; as well as her brothers, Danny Farr and Ronald Farr of Caldwell, Texas, and Franklin Farr of Austin, Texas. Her memory is also cherished by her godchildren—Nicole Green, Kimberly Wolridge, Terrance Bradley, and Henry Jackson Jr.—and her bonus children, Bobby Ray Chandler, Shirley Kay Johnson, and Terry Wayne Johnson.
