Charlie Duncan McCoy was born to Theophilous Duncan McCoy, Sr. and Beulah Lee (Shepard) McCoy on August 14, 1928 in Giddings, Texas. He was the first of five children born to this union.
He received his formal education at Sweet Home School in Giddings, Texas. He later furthered his education and attended Prairie View A & M University, where he earned a degree in Agricultural Science. He went on to teach at Fairview School in Dime Box, Texas and Post Oak School in Ledbetter, Texas. After retiring, he relocated to Elgin, Texas and worked part time at the Textbook Depository in Austin, Texas.
Charlie married Vertice Kerr in 1985. No children were born to this union. After his wife's demise in 2018, he left Elgin and moved to his hometown of Giddings, to live with his brother, Robert, until his health declined.
Charlie loved being outside working in the yard, gardening and being around the animals. He also loved listening to music, socializing and enjoying all kinds of good food. He was an avid sports fan, and he never met a stranger.
On March 21, 2025,Charlie was called home to rest, where he was relieved of earthly sorrows and rewarded with angelic peace. He is preceded by his parents, T.D. McCoy, Sr. and Beulah Shepard McCoy; two sisters, Dorothy McCoy and Minnie Sivels; and one brother, T.D. McCoy, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his brother, Robert Lee McCoy of Giddings, Texas; a host of nieces and nephews, his in-laws of Elgin, Texas, many cousins and friends.
