Clemmie P. Mitchell, Jr. was born September 19, 1930 in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, to the late Clemmie P. Mitchell, Sr. and Annie Mae (Brown) Mitchell. His parents soon relocated to Houston, Texas, where they resided in the area of Sixth Ward.
Clemmie Jr. accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was baptized at Damascus Baptist Church, where he was a member. He attended Harper School, which was also in his neighborhood.
Clemmie Jr. confessed his calling into the Gospel Ministry. He was licensed and ordained by Pastor Clarence Wilkins, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in the Piney Point community. He later united with Starlight Missionary Baptist Church in Acres Home, under the leadership of Pastor Peavy. He later relocated to Giddings, Texas, where he remained until his departure.
On Sunday, August 27, 2023, the Lord called His servant home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemmie Sr. and Annie Mitchell; and one nephew, Norris Turner.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his only sister, Frankie M. Thompson(Holman); one niece, Andrea Evans(Gregory); three nephews, Bruce Turner(Sheila), Roderick Turner and Christopher Thompson; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
