Corey Lamont Burns was born on December 21, 1985, at Lee Memorial Hospital in Giddings, Texas. He was the proud son of Travece Lovings and Ray Aldridge. He was later adopted and raised by Clarence Burns, who was his father.
Corey attended school in Giddings Independent School District and graduated in the Giddings High School class of 2004. He later worked various jobs until his health did not allow him to be employed.
At an early age he learned of Jesus Christ and was raised at Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church. He later united with New Corinth Baptist Church and was baptized along with his wife, Gena and family. He remained a faithful member until he relocated to Dallas, Texas.
Corey loved to play video games and was a sports fanatic. He was a true fan of the Dallas Cowboys. His personality was that of an outgoing, polite and reserved character. He always had a smile on his face, while keeping a quiet demeaner. He never wanted to be a burden to anyone, including his own family. His courageous fight against illness never made him complain. His answer would always be "I'm Good".
On Saturday, June 28, 2025, Corey traded his earthly sorrows for sweet joy. He was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Louise Lovings-Johnson(Rufus), Travis and Syble Lovings, Allen and Alean Burns and Ruby Burns-Aldridge; aunt, Syble "BB" Fisher; and one uncle, Derek Lovings.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Gena Burns of Bryan, Texas; two daughters, Layla Burns of Giddings, Texas and Lanah Burns of Denver, Colorado; two step-daughters of Bryan, Texas; his parents, Travece Lovings Tenner of Dallas, Texas, Ray Aldridge of Somerville, Texas and Clarence(Brenda) Burns of Giddings, Texas; one sister, Danielle Burns of Houston, Texas; one brother, Keron Burns of Giddings, Texas; a special cousin, Quentin Fisher of Fort Worth, Texas and one special niece, Ariyana Fisher; a special God mother, Beverly Lewis of Bryan, Texas and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
