Demetria Burns Patridge Obituary

Demetria Lynn Burns was born on December 21, 1971 in Houston, Texas to the union of Percy Jewel and Dorothy Nell (Mitchell) Burns. She was affectionately known as "Meechie" to everyone that came to really know her.

Demetria received Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and continued to reverence God throughout her life.  She fellowshipped with two churches, Christ Way Baptist Church lead by Pastor Wayne Davis and Antioch Baptist Church lead by Pastor Leroy Solomon.

Demetria was united in holy matrimony to Willie Patridge, who she created many memories with. She was a strong independent woman who lived a full life. Despite her large family, "Meechie" always helped everyone. She constantly provided love and support to her family and enjoyed getting them together and having a great time. She had a passion for cooking and making the most of every moment.

On August 28, 2025, "Meechie" made her transition to be with the Lord.  She is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Taplin; her son, Roderick Mathis; grandparents, Tom Mitchell, James Burns and Minnie Ewing-Burns; one grandson, Bennie Byrd III; and her cousin, Wayne Gilmon.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Willie Patridge; her three daughters,  Sherika Burns Byrd (Bennie ), Sequinta Mathis (Keon ) and Monica Mathis; her father, Percy Burns (Gwen); one sister, Angelia Furlow (Mack);  two brothers, Chad Burns and Jarvis Burns (Donna); four grandchildren, Amirah Byrd, Aiyana Byrd, Brentley Byrd and Karson King; special nieces, Gwen Mathis and Dominique Mathis; a dear friend Ruia Wilson "Mama Blacky"; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
