J L Crittendon Obituary

J L "Bubba" Crittendon was born on March 8, 1934 to Dave and Zelma (Williams) Crittendon in Lee County, Texas.  He confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Lincoln, Texas. He attended Doak Springs Public School in Lee County.  He learned the value of working hard by the examples his parents instilled in him growing up on their farm in Lee County, Doak Springs.

J L had a successful construction career for over twenty-five years in Houston, Texas.   After he retired from Construction work, he went back to the Crittendon Farm in Doak Springs and started his own lawnmow repair business in the early 90’s. He continued his business until his health started to decline.

How do we describe a man who was loved by many? He was a generous man who was interested in helping others in need.  He was a Godfearing man who attended Morning Star Baptist Church regularly until his heath started to decline.

J L was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Jennie Juanita Crittendon; five sisters, Eula Alberta Siverand, Alice McDowell, Doris Randle, Virginia Clemons and Verlin Morrison; seven brothers, Charles, Luther, Theodore, Jerlin, Melvin, David Lois and David Lee Crittendon.

Left to carry on his legacy of labor, love and fellowship are: four sons, Norris Crittendon of Dallas, Texas; Jerrol Crittendon of Lincoln, Texas; Andre Ogun McDaniel Sr., Houston, Texas; and Larry J. Gaines, Giddings, Texas; Two daughters, Velma Hills, Dallas, Texas; Linda Tates, Bryan, Texas; One sister, Blanche Bluford, Oakland, California; One brother, Maurice Crittendon, Dallas, Texas; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family.
