JW Rawls

On the beautiful spring day of March 21, 1951, in Trinity, Texas, Johnny William "J W" Rawls and Mary Francis (Allen) Rawls gave birth to their only son.  They were so delighted to name him J W Rawls, Jr.  The family later relocated to Houston, Texas where the journey of life began.
At an early age, J W accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.  He attended E.O. Smith School and graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School in the fifth ward area.  He worked at Houston Lighting and Power for some time.  He soon attended University of Houston and then became a truck driver for several years.
J W had a love for animals, especially horses.  He was also talented in the art of music.  He was a very skilled musician with expertise in several instruments.  
J W united in holy matrimony with Lyndal Kay Stykes on September 29, 2007.  They resided in Giddings, Texas until his demise.  Continuing to Serve God was a first priority for him.  He and his wife later united with Concord Christian Center Church, under the leadership of Pastor Stanley P. and Theresa Harris.
On Tuesday, March 1, 2022, J W answered his Master's call.  He moved on from labor to reward.  He is preceded in death by:  his parents, JW, Sr. and Mary Francis Rawls; two daughters, Brenda Lynn Rawls and Jacqueline Lanette Rawls; and his five sisters, Ethel Williams, Jaunita Craft, Vernita Horton, Linda Hawkins and Debra Daggs.
He leaves loving memories with:  his wife, Lyndal Kay Rawls of Giddings, Texas; three sons, Johnny William "Pee Wee"  Rawls III and Lane Stykes(Ursula) of Houston, Texas and Michael Stykes of Giddings, Texas; several grandchildren; two aunts, Odessa Rawls of Trinity, Texas and Gertie Mae Tubbs of Houston, Texas; one uncle, Lloyd Rawls of Houston, Texas; brother-in-law, Marshall Daggs of Pearland, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
