James Arthur ("Flat") Eans

James Arthur Eans was born on March 9, 1955 in Giddings, Lee County, Texas to Thomas Lee Eans, Jr. and Pauline (Williams) Eans.  He was the youngest of two sons born to this union.  He later became known as "Flat" by many of his family and friends.

At an early age he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, and was baptized at St. Paul Baptist Church in Giddings, Texas.

"Flat" received his formal education in the Giddings Public Schools.  His interest for sports, led him to become known throughout the region, as a star football player.  He played high school years on into his college years. He attended Wharton Junior College and proceeded on to Texas Southern University and Tarleton State University.  He was on his way to play for the San Fransisco 49ers, until an unfortunate injury occurred, causing him not to fulfill that dream.

On Sunday, August 1, 2021, "Flat" departed this earthly life.  He was preceded in death by:  his parents, Thomas and Pauline Eans; and grandparents.

He leaves to cherish his memories:  one brother, Theadore "Ted" Eans; two sons, Vincent "Big Baby" Davis and James L. Jackson, Sr.; seven grandchildren, Vardasha "Deja" Wells, La'Vince'a Davis, Journee Jones, Makiah Deary, Trai Davis, James L. Jackson, Jr. and Jazmine Jackson; three aunts, Minnie Gaines, Eula Brown(Joe) and Pearlie Williams(Harris); three uncles, Rogers Williams, Jr.(Doris), James Williams and Roy Williams(Gloria); and a host of other relatives and friends.
