Lionel Guyton was born Monday, June 19, 1944 in Burton, Texas to the late Lymous and Minnie Lee (Jackson) Guyton. He accepted Christ at an early age, attending Hollow Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Washington County.
After graduating from high school Lionel moved to Houston, Texas. On February 16, 1964 he married the love of his life, Bobbie Jean Solomon and to this union two children were born. Lionel was ordained as a deacon in 1976 by Pastor L.O. Lang. He dutifully served as a deacon and choir member at Hollow Springs MBC, Pastor Michael McClain and as the president of the male chorus and a member of the mass choir. He was also a faithful deacon at New Deliverance MBC in Houston, Texas (2010) under Pastor Billy J. Lockett, until the Lord called him home.
Over his lifetime, Lionel was employed with Central Freight Lines for 36 years and worked as a sports referee for over 20 years. After retirement he worked for HISD as a bus driver for 10 years. He loved spending time with his lovely wife, his sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Lionel raised cattle and farmed land for many years, teaching his sons to do the same.
On May 6, 2021 Lionel Guyton went home to be with his Lord and Savior. He leaves his loving memory to be cherished by: his wife of 57 years, Bobbie Jean Guyton; his sons, Kerry B. Guyton Sr.(Leslie) and Kalvin B. Guyton(Jean) both of Houston, Texas; his goddaughter, Sheila Kay of Houston, Texas; one brother, Lloyd Guyton(Mable) of Houston, Texas; a god sister, Ginger Francis of Brenham, Texas; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, one grandson, one niece and one god sister.
