Lucille Wilson Bradshaw was born in Lee County, Texas on March 2, 1936 to the union of Hugh Wilson, Sr. and Peggy (Thornton) Wilson. Lucille accepted Jesus as her Lord and personal Savior at an early age. She attended Antioch School and later was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church for over fifty years. Lucille was active in women’s mission, the choir, and the culinary committee. In 1982, her husband was ordained as a deacon and she faithfully supported him with his new mission. She continued to call and check on the elderly members of the church and join in on hospital visits.
She later moved to Round Rock, Texas where she became a member of David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Austin. She attended faithfully with family until the COVID-19 pandemic and health reasons no longer allowed her to. Lucille continued to participate in the prayer calls and watch the services online.
Lucille was united in marriage to Lessly Bradshaw on December 21, 1952. They were married for 63 years until his passing on November 2, 2016. To this union eight children were born. There were four sons and four daughters.
Lucille was a homemaker and enjoyed taking of her family. Whether it be her husband, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews or siblings. Additionally, there are many others that grew to call her momma. She was always cooking and hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays for her family.
Lucille passed away peacefully on June 19, 2024, at her son’s home in Dime Box, Texas surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lessly Bradshaw, Sr; three children, Bernadette Surgers, Lessly Bradshaw, Jr. and L.J. Bradshaw; her parents, Hugh and Peggy Wilson; siblings, Jack Riggins, Gusts Riggins, George Arnold, Lena Arnold, Gertrude Collins, Doris Wilson, Sr., Moses Wilson, Otis Wilson, RW Wilson, Hubert Wilson, Bertha B. Wilson-Terry, Jessie Wilson, and Bessie Wilson-Burns.
Lucille is survived by: five children, Daniel Bradshaw, Gloria Ann Gilmore, Kenneth Earl Bradshaw (Susan), Lucille Washington and Barbara Guerra(Edward); thirty-seven grandchildren, forty-five great grand-children, and five great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
