Marjorie (Simpson) Goins

Marjorie Simpson Goins, 85 of Giddings, Texas was born on December 15, 1935 in Lee County, Texas.  Her parents were Rance Simpson, Sr. and Lorene (Francis) Simpson.

Marjorie Simpson Goins, a Devoted Servant, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend….

Marjorie was baptized at Sweet Home Baptist Church at early age. Marjorie waited for the love of her life from serving his country. Marjorie and Arthur Goins Jr. married June 11th, 1954, and relocated to Taft, Texas, where they resided for over 30 years. To this union 3 children were born, Dennis, Ronnie, and Lana who were their pride and joy. Marjorie later went on to receive her General Education Degree, several certificates, and she began working at Retama Nursing Home. 

Marjorie and Jr. later moved back to their hometown, Giddings, Texas, and joined New Hope Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on the Mission and as the Sunday School Secretary under Pastor Bill Ellis until her health declined. Marjorie was a part of many community organizations including Relay of Life, LaGrange Baptist District Assoc. Choir, The Lee County Mass Choir and later worked for Head Start. Marjorie was also a “Jack” of all trades, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, and visiting and assisting the elderly and of course affectionately loving her family. 

She is preceded in death by: her husband, Arthur Goins, Jr.; two sisters, Quedna Gantt and Virginia Washington; and four brothers, H.L. Simpson, Rance Simpson, Jr., Farris Simpson and Antone Simpson.

She leaves to cherish her memories:  1 sister, Delores Thompson of Bryan, Texas; her loving children, Dennis Goins, Ronnie Goins of Dallas, Texas, and Lana Barnes (Chester) of Desoto, Texas; 1 stepdaughter, Ella Pearl Garrett of Killeen, Texas; 1 stepson, Eddie Green of Austin, Texas; Grandchildren, Rodney Goins (LaToya), Brian Goins, Eric Garrett (Linzy), Andreia Goins, Joshua Garrett, Christal Akpan (Patrick), Jasmine Goins, and Melane’ Jackson; Great-Grandchildren, Yasmeen, Amarian, Aliyah, Jacori, Aurielle, Stella, Iris, Maxwell, Nissa, and Kross; 

Brother-in-laws, Robert E. Goins I (Ruth) and Willie Williams of Pomona, California; Sister-in-laws, Alice M. Lang (Pastor L.O. Lang), and Daisy A. McDowell, all of Giddings, Texas and Gloria Simpson of Fort Worth, Texas; 3 special nieces, Barbara Williams, Susan Figgs and Sandra Gantt; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
