Millie Mundine was born on May 16, 1932, in Dime Box, Texas, to the late Ollie Mundine Sr. and Clara (Sams) Mundine. She grew up in a loving family and carried those values of faith, compassion, and dedication throughout her life.
She was united in marriage to Freeman Lewis, and together they shared many cherished years surrounded by family and friends.
Millie accepted Christ at an early age and was a young member of Goodwill Baptist Church in Dime Box, Texas. After moving to Houston, she joined Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, where she worshiped under the leadership of Pastor George T. Curry Sr. Her strong faith and devotion to God were evident in the way she cared for her nieces whom she adopted and assisted in raising: Gayle R. Mundine LaBoy(deceased), Brenda Joyce Wade Mundine and Clara Wade Mundine Wilson.
She peacefully departed this life on October 5, 2025, in Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clara (Sams) Mundine Oliver and Ollie Mundine Sr.; her sister, Eva L. Atkins; her brothers, Ollie Mundine Jr. and Joseph Mundine; her beloved niece whom she adopted and helped raise as her own, Gayle R. Mundine LaBoy; and her grandparents, Arnie and Nancy (Benson) Mundine, and Roosevelt and JoAnna (Higgins) Sams.
She leaves a host of loving family members to celebrate her life.
