Minister Helen Gordon Obituary

In the quiet town of Giddings, Texas, on March 18th, 1947, a beacon of warmth and love entered this world—Helen Mack. Growing up as the third oldest of ten siblings, Helen thrived amid her close-knit family. Her childhood was joyful, playing and learning at Globe Hill School.

As she grew, Helen sought new adventures, attending college in Kingsville, Texas. Her journey led her to Austin, Texas, where she met and married Fred Gordon. Together, they began a chapter filled with companionship and started a new family. Helen worked hard, making meaningful contributions at the State of Texas and Huston-Tillotson College.

With a heart full of joy, Helen found happiness in cooking and family gatherings. Her life was also deeply rooted in faith. In 1998, she became a minister at Cottonwood Baptist Church, spreading the gospel from prisons to churches like Maranatha Faith Center. Returning to Giddings, she continued her ministry at Globe Hill Baptist Church, serving with dedication.

Despite the challenges of pancreatic cancer, Helen displayed incredible strength and grace. On November 27th 2024, she peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home, leaving a legacy of love and faith.

Helen is now reunited in spirit with her husband, Fred Gordon; parents, Lemuel Mack Sr. and Mary Lou Mack; granddaughter, Sommer Mack; as well as many other relatives and friends. Helen is remembered by her children, Redginal Mack (Barbara), Felicima Butts (Daryal), and Tyrone Gordon (Regina); her step children, Clarence Dennis Shaw, Alicia Gayle Gordon-Miles (Linnex), Fred Douglas Gordon Jr. and Vincent Lamont Gordon; her grandchildren, Marnique Nickerson, Marcellus Mack (Angelic), Jamila Henderson, Joshua Mack, Shiloh Gordon, and Isaiah Gordon; great grandchildren, Matteo and Adonis; her God daughter, Anaiah Mitchell; her nine siblings, Versie Smith-Sauls, Mary Jones (Otis), Linda Cook (Detoneal), Deborah Harris, Lemuel Mack Jr., Abron Mack (Edith), Morris Mack (Cecilia), Macco Mack, and Dennis Mack (Kathy); and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Helen's spirit will continue to shine brightly in our hearts and memories.
