Monica Punchard Obituary

Monica Elaine Punchard was born August 22, 1962.  She was the daughter and fifth child of the late Raymond Punchard and Lillian R. (Huff) Punchard.

Monica grew up with six brothers, who encouraged her to become a strong and hard working woman.  At the same time she was loving and caring to everyone.

At an early age, she united with Post Oak Baptist Church where she learned about God and keeping the faith.  Monica attended Giddings Independent School District for all of her education.  She was an excellent athlete in all sports.  She graduated in the Class of 1980 and remained in the Lee County area all of her adult life.  Her career extended as a nurse, sand blaster and cook for many years.

She was the mother of two sons, Kenneth Punchard(the eldest) and Joshua Benson(the youngest) whom she dearly loved.  She met Arthur Gantt in 1994, the love of her life, whom she resided with until her passing.

Monica loved spending time with her family and friends.  She enjoyed laughing, partying and having a great time.  She was always cheerful, no matter the circumstances.  A loving mother, grandmother, companion, sister, aunt, niece and cousin was what she was.

Monica passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of August 23, 2024.  She is preceded in death by:  her parents, Raymond and Lillian Punchard; three brothers, Raymond Punchard, Jr., Bruce Punchard and Donald Punchard; maternal grandparents, Jake and Irene Shipmon Huff; and paternal grandparent, Josephine Jarmon Estes.

She leaves to cherish her memories:  her loving companion, Arthur Gantt of Burton, Texas; two sons, Kenneth Punchard(Endiea) and Joshua Benson(Cassandra) both of Giddings, Texas; one granddaughter, Neoisha N. Punchard-Bradshaw and her son, Cashton; one grandson, Tevin; three brothers, Bobby "Chee" Punchard of Ledbetter, Texas, Clay Punchard(Jackie) of Giddings, Texas and Dean Punchard(Tori) of Killeen, Texas; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, stepchildren and friends.  She will be truly missed by everyone who loved her.
