Pastor Paula Jackson Obituary

Paula Muchon Mayberry was born on June 11, 1963 to her proud parents, James Ben Mayberry, Sr. and Annetta Ray (Williams) Mayberry of Taylor, Texas.  Paula attended and graduated from the public schools of Taylor, Texas. She would proudly tell you she was a Taylor Duck.  She was very very athletic and talented; playing multiple sports including softball, volleyball, and basketball just to name a few.  Paula was very competitive all of her life.  Paula became a wife and a mother, giving birth to Curtis McFarlin and Jamie McFarlin. She was a hard-working lady, holding up to 3 jobs at one time to provide for her family.  She held managerial positions, department leads, and machine operator jobs.

Paula later met and married Henry Jackson, soon relocating and extending the family with the birth of Jamil Jackson in 1994.  In 1998 Paula and Henry Jackson opened up their home and hearts, becoming foster parents.  Paula raised over 40 children, giving them the love only a mother could. Paula was an inspiration, a mentor, a listening ear and was known throughout the communities as “Momma Paula”.

Paula started her spiritual journey at a very young age, with her Grandfather being a Pastor.  As a young girl, she would sneak off to another church because she liked the music and dancing; it turned out, it was praise and worship. Paula loved the Lord and would share His goodness with everyone she came in contact with. She was a faithful member of Bible Way Church (later named Harvesting Ministries), where she started the food bank ministry feeding hundreds and hundreds of people in the community. After intense training, multiple classes and seminars, Paula became an ordained minister, and soon  her name  became Pastor Paula Jackson.

Pastor Paula Jackson took her calling very seriously. She hosted Bible studies at her home and did drive-by ministry services spreading the gospel everywhere she went.  She fed those that were hungry with the word of God and also a natural meal.  With the leading of the Holy Spirit, Prophetess Esther Martin, birthed an outreach ministry and partnered with her sisters, Pastor Hosetter Irvin and Pastor Paula Jackson calling it W.H.A.T.T. “ Worshiping, Hoping and Trusting Together”.  Paula would always say that she knew the three of them would be doing something together; though she thought it would be a restaurant (because of her love for cooking), but God wanted them to take the word outside of the four walls.

Momma Paula was the premier culinary artist of the family.  She would say she didn’t know how to cook for a few people.  When she prepared a meal, it was as she was feeding an army. If you wanted a little plate you'd better make it yourself, because she would pile it on like she was feeding a king.

Pastor Jackson later became a member of Morning Star Baptist Church, but always kept her partnership with W.H.A.T.T. Ministries doing as much as her health would allow.

Paula's competitiveness never waived.  You could hear her cheering for her kids' games and then later in life her grandkids.  She would even cheer for your child, whether she knew their names or not.
Paula enjoyed traveling, going on family vacations and taking road trips. She enjoyed family game nights with her grandchildren and watching them line dance.  Paula was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an auntie, a friend, a Pastor and a Prayer partner that was always a phone call away.  If you needed her, she would show up.  If you needed a meal you were sure to eat.  Paula always had words of wisdom, words of confidence, words of encouragement and a story to tell.  Momma Paula was a woman of many words and wisdom, that would stick with you for a lifetime.

Paula leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Henry Jackson Jr.; her children, Curtis (Annileshia)McFarlin, Jamie (Chris) Plummer and Jamil (fiancé Talisha) Jackson all of Lincoln, Texas; her siblings, Esther Martin of Jarrell, Texas and Hosetter (Milton) Irvin of Killeen, Texas; one brother, James Mayberry of Killeen, Texas; her extended sisters, Shirley Vincent and Debra McCullough-Slaughter(Donnie); her extended brother, David McCullough; her grandchildren, Aaliyah Mcfarlin, Curtis Mcfarlin ll, Alanna Mcfarlin, Mike Galow, Zora Galow and Chayce Randell; honorary children, Juanetta Smith, Rosalina Dukes, Galvino, Joe and Faustino Badillo (just to name a few of her many fostered children); a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Paula is preceded in death by: her mother, Annetta Ray Mayberry-Sanders; her father, James Ben Mayberry; her mother-in-law, Bernice "Dolly" Jackson; her sisters, Annetta "Rosa" Mayberry and Camron "Wooda" Campbell; two nephews, Keeven Cubit and Harrison Collins;  her foster son, Angel Badillo and step sister, Glenda McCullough.
