Pearlie Shepard was born in Giddings, Texas on May 18, 1940, to the late Rufus and Stella (Ward) Shepard. She confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and attended Sweet Home Baptist Church along with her family. She received her formal education in the local schools of Lee County, Texas. Growing up, she was affectionately known as "Pearlie B." by many of her close family and friends.
On February 16, 1965, she united in holy matrimony to Lucius Hill Sr., and brought into this world five wonderful children, Larry, Preston, Sharon, Cecil and Lucius, Jr.
Pearlie worked for the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired for over 25 years. After retirement she worked part-time for Girling Personal Care in Austin, Texas. Pearl always kept her faith in the Lord.
She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. She was full of life. After retirement, she enjoyed the love of her grandkids, spoiling them every chance she got. She loved gospel music and one of her favorite songs was “Take me to the King”. Her favorite hobbies were going to bingo, or justcooking lunch for a few of her friends. Putting a smile on someone else's face brought her much joy and peace.
On January 23, 2023, she heard a Heavenly voice call her from this earthy Tabernacle to her Heavenly home. She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Tommie Lee Shepard; sister, Ruthie Mae Blue; son, Larry Govan; and daughter, Sharon Annette Hill.
She leaves to cherish her “Precious Memories”: three sons, Cecil Shepard of Austin, Texas, Preston Jones (Karen) of San Angelo, Texas and Lucius Hill Jr., (Wanda) of Elgin, Texas; grandchildren, Joel, Lucius Lavon, Brittany, Kiara, Donna and others; great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
