Pervennia McBride Jones was born July 22, 1922 in Lexington, Lee County, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Mc Bride and Fannie Mae Joiner McBride.
At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was educated in the public schools of Lee County.
At age 23, Pervennia relocated to Temple, Texas with her sister. She was employed at Scott & White Hospital, Veterans Administration Medical Center, and at McCloskey Hospital. It was during this time that she met her soul mate, Louis James Jones. They were married for 52 long years, and were loving parents to one son and eleven daughters.
Pervennia and Louis later moved to Abilene, Texas, where they raised their family. She was a devoted wife and mother. Those late nights when she was cooking, she was also singing spirituals, for she firmly believed in the Lord. She would often say she didn’t worry about times when she had disappointment or things didn’t go her way, because she knew she would get hers when she went to heaven.
On May 10, 2024, Pervennia passed away so peacefully, knowing that when she went through those pearly gates she would see her parents, brothers and sisters that she hadn’t seen for a long time. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Charlie and Fannie McBride; maternal grandparents, Caesar and Eliza (Vernon) Joiner; paternal grandparents, William and Fannie McNeil; her husband, Louis James Jones; three daughters, Margaret Jones, Flora Anderson and Brenda Holloway; her siblings, David M. Dibble, Sr., Charlie Dibble, Irene Jackson, Malvine McBride, Alice Wade, Raymond McBride, Julius McBride, Sr., Edward McBride and Charles T. McBride.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, John Jones, Sr.(Jann); daughters, Fannie Taylor, Linda Holloway, Lovie Jones, Dovie Jones, Minnie Ruth Ibarra(Ricardo); Mary Jones, Karen Woods and Twana Jones; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
