Henry O’Neal DeShay born August 26, 1938 in Cedar Creek, Texas to Mr. Clarence DeShay Sr and Mrs. Senia Brooks DeShay. He was the born the tenth out of ten children. He was educated at Alum Creek School in Cedar Creek and went on to Emile High School in Bastrop.
In 1963, Henry was joined in marriage to Alberta Williams and to this union eight children were born.
As a car enthusiast, he operated an auto repair garage, where he rebuilt and repaired cars for many people. In 1983 he established his own company “DeShay and Sons Construction”, his business expanded throughout Bastrop, Travis and Caldwell counties, contributing in the building of major projects such as Convenience stores and The Cedar Creek High School. He had an earnest desire to help others through his business.
In 1988, he was licensed as a Minister under the leadership of Pastor L.L. Carter at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. He served faithfully at Mt. Pleasant until he was called to Pastor at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church of Blanco, TX. Rev Henry DeShay served as the Pastor of Mt. Horeb for 11 years.
He made his transition from this side on Monday, April 24, 2023 @ 9:00 AM. Rev. Henry DeShay is preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, eight brothers, and a beloved son, Kevin O’Neal DeShay.
His memory will live on in the hearts of his family which includes his loving wife, Alberta Williams DeShay of Cedar Creek, son Perry (Gretchen) DeShay of Bastrop, TX; six daughters; Senia R. DeShay of Austin, TX; Theresa G. DeShay of Elgin, TX; Alma DeShay, Marian DeShay, Rochelle DeShay and Sharon DeShay all of Cedar Creek, TX; grandchildren, Casey (Eve) Hayes DeShay, Seguin, TX; Derek Peterson Jr., Cedar Creek, TX; Lacey Miller DeShay, Parker, CO; Mae Harper, Elgin, TX; Maci Harper, Leander, TX; Kelsey DeShay, Brock DeShay, Malik DeShay, Malia DeShay, Joyiaa DeShay and Jacob DeShay all of Cedar Creek, TX; great-grandchildren, Derek Peterson III, Darron Peterson, Dai’Shaun Peterson, Elijah, Tiana Peterson, Traven Peterson, Desire Peterson, Isiah Harper, Kataleya Nino DeRiveria, DeAsia Peterson, Jaz’Alya Peterson, Ja’Niyah Peterson and Ca’Mello Harper; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
