Ricky Wayne Sanders was born on May 24, 1953, as the eldest child to Mae Dee Sanders and Rufus "Watt" Wolridge. He was raised in the small town of Giddings, Texas, where he was known by many. With a family of strong faith and Christian living, he received Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He attended school in the Giddings Independent School District.
As a young man, Ricky met and married Debra Guyton. This union brought forth two beautiful children, Ronald and Atora.
Ricky was a free spirit and had an infectious smile, with a good sense of humor. As a young man, he loved to train horses, working for Henry Lehman on his farm outside of town. He also loved dogs and fishing as well. He put his artistic abilities to work for him, whether he was drawing or building chairs out of clothes pins. He also enjoyed planting a garden along with his mother. He loved barbecuing some ribs while showing off his dancing ability, in which one had never seen before and will never see again. His style was an original and could not be duplicated no matter how hard anyone tried. It is almost certain, his last words would have been "Love, Peace and Happiness to All", with a big smile and a much appreciated thank you no matter how small the gesture.
On April 16, 2024, Ricky traded his earthly life for rest with his Savior. He was preceded in death by his father, Rufus "Watt" Wolridge; his mother, Mae Dee Hodge; his stepfather, Thomas L. Hodge; his sister, Alicia M. Jackson; grandparents, Lovie and Eva C. Sanders; and his great-grandmother, Ella Mae Scoby Nunn.
He leaves fond memories with: especially his children, Ronald and Atora (Antwan); three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; his loving siblings, Toni Preston of Fort Worth, Texas; Vanessa Moore (Elbert) of Bryan, Texas, Michael Sanders of Giddings, Texas, Thomas Sanders(Novita) of Missouri City, Texas and Randy Sanders of Houston, Texas; his only living aunt, Joyce Bonner of New Braunfels, Texas; special sister, Betty Francis Whitfield of Houston, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
