Robert Oratius Washington was born on August 2, 1946, in Lee County, Texas. He was the youngest son of Lloyd William Washington, Sr. and Ollie L. (Phenix) Washington. Raised in the nurturing embrace of the Doak Springs community, Robert accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church. His formative years were spent attending Doak Springs School, where he laid the foundation for the values that would guide him throughout his life.
Robert's journey took him to San Antonio, Texas, where he met and married Charlotte Lewis, welcoming a daughter into their lives. Seeking new opportunities, Robert relocated to Houston, Texas, where he dedicated himself to raising his family. His professional life began in the construction industry, where he honed his work ethic and determination. After many years, he retired but continued to serve his community by starting his own lawn care business, managing and caring for numerous clients across the Houston area.
In time, Robert found love again and married Frances Carson; however, she sadly preceded him in death. Throughout his life, Robert faced life with grace and resilience, drawing strength from his faith and the love of his family.
Robert passed away on August 19, 2025, leaving behind an enduring legacy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Sr. and Ollie Washington; his beloved wife, Frances Washington; and his siblings: four brothers—Lloyd W. Washington Jr., Willie Gene Washington, Delbert Washington, and Clement J. Washington—and three sisters—Gladys Jewel Jones, Aquila Bell-Hurd, and Pauline Bryant.
He is survived by his cherished daughter, Sherita Washington; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who will carry his memory forward; two sisters, Lorene Jackson and Mildred Dorsey; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
Robert's warmth, kindness, and dedication to his family will forever be remembered. His journey through life was one of service, love, and unwavering faith, and though he has transitioned to his eternal home, his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.
