Sye Juneious Jones, "SJ" was born January 28, 1946 in Carmine, Texas to Harvey Jones, Sr. and Lena Irene (Knotts) Jones. At an early age he received Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Carmine, Texas.
He received his formal education in Burton area Schools and graduated from George Washington Carver High School. He later furthered his education by receiving several certifications and trainings. Those included electrical, and mechanical studies.
SJ served his country by enlisting in the United States Army, during the Vietnam era. He later received an honorable discharge.
SJ married Verdie Bell Matson on July 10, 1965. This union was blessed with one son, Christopher Wayne Jones. He and his family later united with Zion Hill Baptist Church where they were under the leadership of the late Pastor Irell Fisher and now Pastor Marcus Snowden.
On Friday, April 22, 2022, the Master called his servant home. He is preceded in death by: his parents; and one sister, Mackee Gentry(J.D.).
Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife, Verdie Bell Jones; son, Christopher Wayne Jones(Precious Nicole) of Spring, Texas; four grandchildren, Christopher Daniel Jones, Matthew Payton Julious Jones, Keveon Johnson and Kortez Johnson; three brothers, Harvey Jones, Jr., Earl Jones(Doris) and Donald Wayne Jones(Gloria) all of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Brenda Wilkins(Pastor James) of Brenham, Texas and Linda K. Cooper(James Lamar) of College Station, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
