Tonya Taylor Obituary

On a beautiful fall day of October 14, 1967, a precious jewel by the name of Tonya Yvette Taylor  was born in Fort Worth, Texas to the parents of Laura Taylor and Lafayette Davis.  At the age of 2 months she came to Lexington, TX to the home of her grandparents, Jimmie Lee Taylor and Bertha Lou (Mitchell) Taylor.  Upon holding Tonya, her grandfather named her “Judy”, the apple of his eye.  From this moment forward, she has been known to most as “Judy”!

She confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very early age and  united with New Bethel Baptist Church of Lexington, Texas in the Leo Community.  “Judy” attended Lexington Independent School District where she graduated in May of 1986.  After graduating, she furthered her education at Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas.  “Judy” was loved by many and had a very sweet personality.  She always maintained a smile on her face.  “Judy” later married Gary Burns and to this union, one child, Devon Burns, was born.  “Judy” worked in the healthcare field for many years.  On the evening of October 6, 2021, “Judy” answered her final roll call and was welcomed in Heaven with open arms by: her son, Devon Burns; her grandparents, Jimmie Lee and Bertha (Mitchell) Taylor; her uncles, Jimmie Taylor, Jr., Dennis Taylor, and Theodore Taylor.

Left to cherish her loving memories are: her daughter, Megan Taylor; her son, Andre Taylor (Bryana); mother, Laura Taylor McIntosh; grandchildren, Kaylyn, Jayla, and Devon; sister, Karen Kay (Roger); brothers, Mark McIntosh (Kristi) and Malcolm McIntosh; aunts, Clara Flowers (Thomas), Vincetta Taylor, Gladys McDowell and Sandra Taylor; uncles, Waymon Taylor and Wayne Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, and a very special friend, Charlotte Jones.
