On December 31, 1943, the late Willie "Red" Larkin, Sr. and Sedalia (McDowell) Larkin were blessed with their only son. They proudly named him Willie Larkin, Jr. He soon became known as "Sonny" to most of his family and friends.
Willie was taught God's plan of salvation at an early age. He attended Mount Olive Baptist Church in the the Doak Springs Community of Lee County, Texas. He later relocated to San Antonio, Texas where he began his adult life.
Willie worked long and hard to support his family. He was recognized for his 26 years of service at the Alamo Community College, from 1967 to 1993.
Willie met and fell in love with Artie B. Ussery. On September 11, 1965, he and Artie were united in Holy Matrimony. He was a dedicated husband and a father figure to her daughter, Betty Johnson who he loved as his very own. He was devoted to his wife, Artie B. Larkin until the Lord called her home on August 14, 2009.
Willie cherished his family. He loved listening to music, riding horses and just having a good old time those he loved.
Willie heard and answered the call of the Lord, late Friday night October 14, 2022. He departed this life to become present before the Lord. Willie is preceded death by his parents, Willie "Red" Larkin, Sr. and Sedalia Larkin; sisters, Artense Roberson, Mittie Guyton, Mattie Ruth Govan, Valaria Harrison, Lois Ross and Harrell "Jackie" Brown.
He leaves to cherish his years of love: his daughter, Betty Johnson(Walter) of San Antonio, Texas; a grandson, Dominique Davis and two great-grandchildren, Devin and Riley Davis all of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Cherry Simpson and Charles Etta Govan both of Lincoln, Texas, Bobbie Ellison of Luling, Texas, Shirley Washington of Bryan, Texas and Wanda Byrd of Lexington, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
