Yulanda Evett Hodge

Yulanda Evett Hodge was born Sunday, March 20, 1960.  Sixty-two years later, on Friday, September 30, 2022, God sent His angels down to bring her home to again be with her Mom(Paralee Washington Hodge), Dad(Norman Hodge Sr.), Son(Jason Hodge), Nephew(Lon Douglas Beard) and Niece(Jennifer Sherry Stapleton) who all preceded her in death.

Yulanda accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Houston, Texas under Pastor Dallas Blacklock.  In her prior years, she was active in the music ministry at Mount Corinth Baptist Church, under the late Pastor A. Louis Patterson.  She gladly sang in the sanctuary choir, often having her robe and other coordinating attire prepared to lift her voice for the Savior.

Yulanda received her education in Houston Independent School District, where she later graduated from Kashmere High School.  She was an avid artist and created artwork for family and friends, for birthdays and other special occasions.

Yulanda had a heart of compassion.  She assisted with her mom during her illness and even extended help to other elderly neighbors in their time of need.

She developed unique relationships with all of her extended families to include friends, neighbors, church members and the elderly.  Anyone she felt needed her love and attention, she gave it and they gave her this unique love in return. 

Left to cherish her memory are: six sisters, Bennie Jewel Beard, Norma Rene Stapleton, (Charles- Deceased) Bobbie Jean Davis (Jessie), Reathie Mae Turner (Clarance-Deceased), Lucille Bogany (Lester) and Dorothy Ann Godsey (Elwyn); two brothers, Norman Hodge Jr.(Alberta) and Ricky Hodge(Joyce); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
