Zettie Cox Obituary

On the blessed day of Monday, August 25, 1930, in the Moab Community of Lee County, Texas, (ten miles southwest of Lexington off Farm Road 1624), a beautiful baby girl was born to Homer and Olivia (Carothers) Cox.  They were delighted in naming their only daughter, Zettie B. Cox.
Zettie B. received her formal education at Moab School and Doak Springs School.    At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, under the pastorate of the late Pastor A.P. Person.  She was a member of Goodwill Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Richard Washington.
Zettie B. was employed by the Durham's as a caretaker for many years.  In the early 1970's she began working for Lee County Memorial Hospital.  She later went on to work at Giddings State Home and School as a dietician, where she eventually retired after dedicated years of service.
Zettie B. married Wilbert Taylor in March of 1947.  This union was blessed with two adorable sons, whom she loved dearly.  She later married Daniel Alberts in 1970.
Zettie B. was very active in her community.  She served on the Dime Box I.S.D. School Board and was the first African American Woman to be elected to serve in that capacity.  Some of her great hobbies were playing dominoes, watching the Houston Astros and watching The Young and the Restless.  Listening to Gospel music was one of her greatest comforts.
Zettie B., being a loving and beautiful soul, had a great love for her sons and her brothers.  Her grandchildren also found a special place in her heart.  She will definitely be missed by all of her family and friends.
Zettie B. was preceded in death by:  her parents, Homer and Olivia Cox; a stepson, Fredrick "Fred" Davis; one grandson, Brian Keith Taylor; and one sister-in-law, Ruthie Mae Huff Cox.
Zettie B. leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Wilbert "Jacky" Taylor, Jr.(Lisa) of Lexington, Texas and Byron Keith Taylor(Bobretta) of Caldwell, Texas; two brothers, Charles Edward Cox of Brenham, Texas and William Cullen Cox(Mercy) of Dime Box, Texas; one former sister-in-law, Frankie J. Cox of Houston, Texas; her grandchildren, Antoinette N. Taylor of Florence, South Carolina, Shasta Taylor of Giddings, Texas, Wilbert F. Taylor of Nashville, Tennessee, Leonel Rojas, Jr. of Austin, Texas, Destiny Taylor LaBoy of Lakewood, Washington, E. Issac Taylor of Toledo, Ohio, Trooper DeAndre Burns of College Station, Texas, Mikala Burns of Willis, Texas, Byron K.
